The origin of the dog skin plaster is said to have a legend related to Li Tieguai. In the past, the folks, especially the medical industry, took Li Tieguai as the inventor and patriarch of dog skin plaster. Tieguai Li is the most respected medicinal fairy in the industry of selling dog skin plasters. Li Tieguai has a great influence among the people, but mainly appeared as a group with the other seven immortals-the eight immortals. Probably because the big gourd on his back contains a panacea that cures diseases and saves people.
Legend has it that in Zhangde Mansion (now Anyang, Henan), there was a shopkeeper Wang who made plasters, who was willing to do good, regardless of rich or poor, as long as they had sores. Just rule by others, with a good reputation. One day, the shopkeeper Wang brought some plasters to rush to the temple fair, and ran into a lame beggar halfway through, all in tatters. It stinks. The beggar saw the shopkeeper Wang and stretched out his lame leg. There was a small boil on his leg. He asked the shopkeeper to treat him. Shopkeeper Wang took a look, took out a piece of plaster and put it on the sore, and said, "It will be ready tomorrow."
The next day, shopkeeper Wang ran into a lame beggar again, and hurriedly asked, "Are you okay?" The beggar said, "No, it hurts worse." Shopkeeper Wang opened the plaster and saw that the sore was bigger. He said: "I'll change you a post with a powerful medicine, no matter how bad it is, you come to my house to find me." So he changed another post to the beggar.
On the third day, the shopkeeper Wang was about to go out early in the morning. As soon as he stepped out of the door, he saw the lame beggar waiting by the door; before the shopkeeper Wang could speak, the lame man yelled; "You are a scam! Zhangde! The plaster from the palace-it's a fake!" Shopkeeper Wang opened it and looked at it. Unexpectedly, the mouth of the leg sore became bigger. Wang Zhang refused to survive.
Said, "I will put a good plaster for you." Then he helped the beggar into the house. As soon as he entered the hospital, a big yellow dog rushed over and bit the beggar's leg. The shopkeeper Wang hurriedly picked up the wooden stick in the beggar's hand and beat the dog to death with one stick. The beggar smiled: "I have dog meat today."
Shopkeeper Wang ran to the backyard, found a few precious medicinal materials, and prepared a plaster for the beggar. When I came over, the beggar was eating grilled dog meat, with a few pieces of dog skin spread beside him. The beggar took the medicine, pressed it on his leg, took another piece of dog skin, and covered it. It didn't take much effort. The beggar uncovered the dog skin ointment, and the big abscess on the mouth of the bowl was gone. The shopkeeper Wang took the dog skin ointment and was deeply moved. At this time, the lame beggar suddenly disappeared, and then he realized that it was Guaixian—Tieguai Li came to teach the fairy recipe.
