Avoid tightening the bandage. If the bandage is too tight, it will cut off the blood circulation in your hand. To check it, squeeze one of your nails and count to five. The color should return to your nails in two seconds. If not, you should release it.
Wrapped outside the injured area. Wrapping the area around the wound helps to ensure that pressure is applied evenly.
Use sterile (New) gauze dressing or roller bandage. Repeated use of gauze or bandage may cause infection.
Avoid bandaging infected wounds. If the injured area is red, hot, swollen or tender, it may be infected. Yellow or green pus, fever and chills are other signs of infection.
